You've Got to Have Forgotten Cotton!

We all know that 2012 is here and we have all made our resolutions for the New Year.  One of mine is to put more focus on my blog, so I have many ideas "brewing".  With that being said , one of my plans is to have a Featured Seller Segment on a monthly basis.  These are shops that I have truly fell in love with on Etsy, managed by shop owners who go above and beyond the normal to make sure that their customers are happy.  In fact, in many cases, I am a customer myself!  So, without further ado, I bring to you my first Featured Seller Segment, "You've Got to Have Forgotten Cotton!"

Please join me in welcoming Elizabeth, owner of one of my favorite Etsy Shops Forgotten Cotton.

Can you tell us about yourself and what inspired you to open your shop?

Let's' see...Our favorite television show is Battlestar Gallactica and our favorite book series right now is Game of Thrones.  My Husband and I knew we wanted to start a business of some kind and had bounced around many different ideas for about a year. We played around with different ideas, business names and product names but nothing seemed to stick. In the summer of 2011 I started an Etsy site, nothing serious, just to sell some of my crafts and such that I had sitting around collecting dust. I was also making prop wands for fun. No sales at all.

How did you come up with the idea for the up-cycled items in your shop?

It was then that, along with the help of my husband John's Mom, we had the idea of up-cycling t-shirts into different products. That was the beginning of Forgotten Cotton. After having an Etsy site with no sales for the first 3 months our store took off. We liked the idea of scarves and scarves with our own hand printed designs.

We changed our name from Imagination Exchange to Forgotten Cotton and that was the birth of our store! We really love the idea of upcycled goods because it really does help the environment. We take found jersey items, pants, etc and turn them into something fun, fashionable, and affordable.

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

I really love all of our items (can I say that?!) I love the fingerless gloves which I have several pair of and wear everyday. I really love our hand printed scarves- I think they are so unique and different.

What goals have you set for Forgotten Cotton for 2012?

It is so rewarding when you have customers who really love something you made with your hands- I do not think it gets any better than that. Our goals- to sell as much as possible. Of course! We are looking to create new products (many are in the pipeline- we are working to get them out to the customer!) grow our customer base, create our own website, and continue to love what we do!

Where do you see yourself by the end of this New Year?

By the end of this new year? I am hoping to find ourselves clinking glasses to a successful year of Forgotten Cotton!

My thanks to you Elizabeth for taking the time to let us know a little bit about yourself and your lovely Etsy shop, Forgotten Cotton!  May you and your shop have a blessed and successful 2012 and future! Everyone should also note that all items purchased in her shop ship free!  And to celebrate the upcoming Valentines Day Holiday she is offering a 15% off discount when you use coupon code BEMINE at checkout!  It doesn't get much better than that!
